சம்பேதுறு பட்டணமும் மூவிராச பட்டணமும்

ில் இ்ற்றைக்கு 450 ஆண்டுகளுக்கு முன்னா் இந்த இடம் ஒரு கத்தோலிக்க பட்டணமாக, கத்தோலிக்க திருச்சபையின் முகவாியாகத் திகழ்ந்துள்ளது. இந்த ஆலயத்தைத் தாிசிக்க வேண்டும் என்ற எனது பல்லாண்டுக் கனவு இப்போது நனவாகியதில் மகிழ்ச்சி! உச்சி வெயில் வேளையில் முள்பற்றைக் காட்டைக் கடந்து தோட்டவெளி பங்கு மக்கள் சிலாின் உதவியோடு இந்த இடத்தைச் சென்றடைந்தோம். இந்த ஆலயத்தைச் சுற்றி மக்கள் பனை மற்றும் தென்னந்தோட்டங்களை உருவாக்கியுள்ளாா்கள். காலப்போக்கில் இந்த இடம்கூட திருச்சபைக்கு கிடைக்காத நிலை ஏற்படலாம்.
இந்த ஆலயமும் இடமும் மன்னாா் மறைமாவட்ட வரலாற்றில் மிகவும் முக்கியமானது. ஆழமான, விாிவான ஆராட்சிக்குாியது. இதே காலப்பகுதியில் எழுச்சிபெற்றிருந்த இன்னுமொரு இடம் எருக்கிலம்பிட்டி கிராமத்தின் இன்னுமொரு பகுதியில் உள்ள
கிழக்குவாடி என்ற இடத்தில் அமைந்துள்ள சந்தொம்மையாா் பட்டினம்! இதுவும் கத்தோலிக்க வரலாற்று முக்கியத்துவம் வாய்ந்த இடம். ஆனால் இந்த இடத்திற்குக்கூட இன்று போக முடியாதபடி இது கிராம மக்களால் ஆட்கொள்ளப்பட்டுள்ளது.

Roitan Suresh Miranda As I know, this is the original place of Most of the Pesalai people. Once, it was a coastal city connected with Thutukudi in India. During the cholera disease period, most of this city people died by this disease. The hospital was in Kaataspathiri ( now called Siruthopu). The people who were cured in this hospital, did not return back to Sampethuru and settled next to Moovirasar Pattinam (East part of Pesalai). The original name of eastern part of Pesalai was “Moovirasar Pattinam”(Three kings city)
That time the main road was on construction. Since Main road (Peer Saalai) was established, the new settlemtn was named peer saalai thitam ( main street settlement). Later, during the British period, the name Peer Salai Thittam was changed as Pesalai and wrote in Railway station and post office and now is called Pesalai
That time, the original Mannar Talaimannar road was called “Peradi Padu road”. Now that road is no more. But you can see the big trees (Peruku Maram) in one line, two kilometer inside the jungle from Pesalai to Mannar in land side of present A 14 main road. Part of the road is called “St. Lourds street” in Pesalai and” Saanthipuram street” in Mannar. During Portuguese period, the churches were established close to that road, such as Siruthopu church, Karisal Church, Thotaveli Church, Vedha chatchigal Church, Konayan Kudiyurup church etc. Most of this villages period died during the cholera disease period.
My grandma told this history when I was child. She told that her family displaced from Sampethuru Village to Peer Saalai thitam ( Pesalai) and they had lot of land in Samperhuru. Since they lost most of their family members in Smapethru village, they did not go back and neighbor village people encouraged their land.
While I travel from Pesalai to Mannar during my child period, I could see lot of catholic cemetery structure at sea side between Karisal and Oolaithuduvai, which my grandparent’s cemetery. During the conflict time, those structures were destroyed by unknown people. 
Persalai Thittam ( Pesalai) was with St. Fatima Church. After the Sampethuru city people settlement, the church was called victories church (may be because of victory from the cholera disease but not sure). Now the church have both name Victory’s church and Fatima Church
Up to now During the church feast in Victories Church, Pesalai, they sing with two original village names as mentioned below.

“Mannar Moovirasar pattiman inum mahimai nirai persalai thittamum”
